A HELPING HAND IN A CRISIS
Responding
Who we help
It all starts with a caring person recognising the situation of a neighbour or friend who is lonely, isolated, and needing help in some form. They may know of us through social media, advertising, or community networks. Many know they need to take some action and may call us directly.
If they agree, we will call them and follow up with a weekly call to see how they are. Over time a bridge of friendship will be formed. At the appropriate time, we will invite them to visit the Community Hive and talk about their situation over a cuppa, exploring how they can increase their community contact.
How we help
Once we have an agreed plan, we will actively support them to become connected to other community groups.
If we can, we will give them a helping hand, whatever they need. It all starts with a telephone call or email from somebody who cares.

Tiny Homes
A place to call your own where you can feel safe is a fundamental human need. We can supply short-term crisis accommodation for those who are temporally homeless and work with them to secure longterm housing. We are currently waiting a solution as to where these can be sited on the Peninsula.
Our Safe Yard
The most vulnerable people in our community are homeless women and children. Whilst they may have vehicle to sleep in they are in danger of violent abuse and sexual assault. In partnership with a community minded church we are providing secure overnight parking and supporting them in practical ways.
