An Ode To Loneliness
If only you could see me,
The real me, deep within…
If only you could see my heart,
Not just my outer skin…
If only you could know me,
And not the mask I wear,
You’d see past my outer shell,
And the pain I have to bare…
I just want you to hear me,
To know me warts and all…
I just want you to support me,
Hold me up, don’t let me fall…
I just want you to know,
That I crave to just belong….
To be a part of my community,
To be emotionally strong…..

Just look within your own heart….
Dig deep, see me,
And you’ll know just where to start….
You may see me everyday,
Or pass me on the street…
You have the opportunity,
To connect when we meet…
Please… reach out, look hard,
Look far beyond my mask!
I promise you’ll find it easy,
It’s not a difficult ask!
See me… Hear me…
Help me feel that I belong…
Trust me you will swell my heart,
To the tune of my favourite song.
