Redcliffe Comes Together to Cancel Loneliness
Local campaign launches with community morning tea at Redcliffe Community Hub
Loneliness doesn’t discriminate, but neither does connection. A new campaign spearheaded by local charity Band of Brothers is setting out to do something bold: cancel loneliness, one conversation at a time.
To kick off this vital community activation stage of the project, community representatives, residents, service providers, volunteers and local agencies are invited to a special morning tea launch event on Thursday 7th August 2025 at 10am, held at the Redcliffe Community Hub, 1 Richens Street, Redcliffe.
The Cancel Loneliness campaign aims to shine a spotlight on the silent epidemic of social isolation affecting people of all ages in the Redcliffe community and beyond. Whether it’s an older resident living alone, a single parent doing it tough, or someone simply feeling disconnected, this campaign is about saying: we see you, and you matter.
“Loneliness is more common than many people realise. Australian statistics currently state a third of our community feels lonely often. Loneliness doesn’t always look the way you expect,” said Bryan Wiseman, a Band of Brothers President.
“This campaign is about encouraging real and regular conversations, by activating our local community to help identify their neighbours, peers, workmates and friends who might possibly be feeling lonely. And have them initiate conversations to let them know that we are here to help them create connection with others in a safe and confidential conversation.”
The morning tea event will officially launch the campaign and provide an opportunity for attendees to learn more about getting involved, partnering on outreach projects, or referring people who may benefit.
It’s also a chance to connect over a cuppa and meet other people who care about building a stronger, kinder Redcliffe.
